About Alessandra InnamoratoAt a young age Chef Alessandra Innamorato was inspired to start cooking by her mother, who didn’t like to cook, and her Italian father, who loved to eat. By age 13, she was preparing coq a vin, fresh pasta and Mediterranean feasts for her family and friends. She went on to work in kitchens galore, including the infamous Nick and Toni's in East Hampton until 1993 when she enrolled in L’Academie de Cuisine. Here Alessandra learned culinary art and food science from master chefs Francois and Pascal Dionot and transformed what was previously only a job into a life calling.
Alessandra's first job out of school was at James Beard nominated The Frog and the Redneck, run by Jimmy Snead and Jean-Louis Paladin. From there Alessandra went on to two time award winning Fullers in Seattle where she worked under Monique Barbeau and Danielle Custer. It wasn't long after Alessandra entered the private chef world where she was given complete creative freedom and came into her own as a chef and started Happy Belly. After leaving her job as Merv Griffins private chef, Alessandra moved to Barcelona to travel and soak up other cultures and cuisines, but she was missed and her clients flew her back and fourth during the four years she was in Spain to continue to cook and cater their parties. Alessandra returned to the US in 2008 after living for 4 years abroad and started her second business developing specialty foods and renegade dinners. Born in Barcelona as an underground supper club designed to meet new people it blossomed into her specialty foods business focusing on artisinal smoked olives, which have earned tons of accolades as well as national magazine coverage. Alessandra has left a trail of happy bellies at weddings, fashion shows, backstage at rock concerts, charity events, cocktail soirees and dinner parties. She’s fed Nancy Reagan, Al Gore, Liev Schreiber, Naomi Watts, Leonard Nimoy, Angelica Huston and Jimmy Dean the Sausage King. Latin, Italian, French, and Asian entrees regularly appear on her table, as do delicious gluten-free, low-carb and vegetarian dishes. Every single dish she makes from scratch, using only the freshest of ingredients, and all of her creations are infused with style, playfulness, and above all, LOVE. Being vertically challenged, her mother called her feisty as teenager due to her spunk and pure determination. Her friends called her the feeder as she was always showing up to their doors with treats. Thus, The Feisty Feeder came to fruition in a life changing re-branding. “As far as I am concerned, Alessandra is the best thing to ever happen to food” –Merv Griffin, former employer |
